The Illamasqua Distinction in Make-up Artistry Awards
Back for 2013 and better than ever
The most coveted prize in professional make-up art has returned for its third year with a new venue, new date and new judges.
Much anticipated, The Illamasqua Distinction in Make-up Artistry Awards celebrate undiscovered talent, and give aspiring make-up artists and beauty enthusiasts the chance to showcase their work in front of the industry’s leading professionals.
Illamasqua are proud to announce that the 2013 live final will be hosted on 5th October 2013 at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly London.
Finalists will be given the once in a lifetime opportunity to create their looks during a 60min live performance on stage in the world famous Princess Anne Theatre.  

THE CATEGORIES
Whether you’re a qualified artist, a student of make-up, a beauty blogger or simply a make-up enthusiast, there are three awards categories encompassing all levels of experience:
Working Professional Make-up Artist: Those actively working within the industry.
WIN - £2,000 prize money, a day assisting Illamasqua Creative Director, Alex Box and £250 rrp worth of Illamasqua product.

Make-up Student: Those currently enrolled on a full or part-time make-up course.
WIN - £2,000 prize money, a two-week internship at Illamasqua Head Quarters and £250 rrp worth of Illamasqua product.

Non-Professional: Self-taught artists and make-up enthusiasts.
WIN - £2,000 prize money, a five-day course in Mastering Professional Make-up at The Illamasqua School of Make-up Art (worth £1000) and £250 rrp worth of Illamasqua product.




ILLAMASQUA’S ESTEEMED JUDGING PANEL
Alex Box – Illamasqua Creative Director and iconic make-up artist. “The world’s most outrageous make-up artist” - Sunday Times Style.
David Horne – Illamasqua Director of Product Development and Illamasqua School of Make-up Art and ex–Senior Lecturer at the London College of Fashion.
Spob – Head of Illamasqua Professional Development and hair and make-up artist on critically and commercially acclaimed films such as Inception and The King’s Speech.
Further judges to be announced.
STAGES OF THE COMPETITION
1.      Initial photographic application
Applicants submit two examples of original work, one fantasy look and one beauty look. The judging panel will then select four finalists from each category.
Applications now open. Deadline Friday 30th August 2013.

2.      Live Competition
Stage 1 – Floor judges will assess the finalists as they create a look based on a specific theme, to be revealed at a later date. The 12 contestants will be marked on technical skill and professionalism.
Stage 2 – The final make-up looks will be presented to and marked by the curtain judges. This section will be assessed on creative vision and will take place at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, London on Saturday 5th October 2013.

3.      Public Vote
From Saturday 5th October 2013 until midnight Saturday 13rd October 2013 fans of the Illamasqua Facebook page will be invited to “like” their favourite look.

The winner of each category will be based on scores accumulated from all three stages of the competition.
